There are some things you can count on – like summer always coming no matter how long and brutal winter feels. Day lilies being in bloom for the fourth of July is another. Some might snub their noses at the common orange day lily believing they are just way too – well common – to include in their garden. I appreciate their steadfast reliability. And doesn’t that just remind you of some of the most “important” people in our lives – the people who might not be the most exciting or interesting but that we can count on no matter what. Happy Independence Day!
Happy July 4th and indeed there are certain plants in my garden I rely on for morale support. When they bloom I know that it is ok again.

I looooooove daylilies. I just bought a plant from the garden of the famous botanist Luther Burbank, and I’m so excited to have this historic plant. Happy 4th of July.

Wow! That is really neat. I think about the only thing I would dare to buy from a famous botanist would be day lilies so I’d be confident I wouldn’t kill it. 🙂
