Almost spring light

I am always amazed at how the almost spring light lifts my soul. Every year. I don’t quite realize how heavy the darkness of winter weighs on me, how much I am holding my breath until the light is just enough brighter to make everything lighter.

Late harvest

A few minutes in the garden is all it takes to lift the spirits.  The season when you try not to notice that the first frost can come at any moment and bring it all to an end.

Changing Colors

This week flew by. This month flew by. Summer flew by. Life flies by. With the movement of time, there is always change.  We can’t hold onto even one single moment. It is here and then it’s not. Moments of great joy, moments when you feel really strong – it turns out we can’t hold…

It rained!

I awoke to thunder at 3:30am and went back to sleep with a smile on my face. Yay! It’s raining! Sending gratitude and praying for more rain to end the drought and bring relief to the trees, flowers, rivers, wells, farmers . . .

Where do the fish go?

The river that flows through town is largely dry except for some pools of very warm, greenish water. So where do the fish, river otters, mink and beavers go? A shallow pool. Had hoped for some rain from tropical storm Hermine but only got a couple of brief showers that barely made the ground wet.…
