Room II – Weekly Photo Challenge

My favorite room at home is outside – the gardens all around to be exact.  It’s kind of in between seasons here right now.  The spring bulbs are gone by but the summer flowers haven’t quite kicked into high gear yet. Never-the-less I love to see all of the variety in leaf color, shape and texture when I walk around the yard tending to things.  (I’ve been behind in my gardening the past couple of years so there is lots of tending to catch up on!)  Anyways, here is a “virtual tour” of some of the gardens.

This is the side yard. There is a border garden on the left along the neighbors fence and a perennial bed that loops around to herbs on the right (not in view). I the back is an arbor that goes to the back yard that I grow pole beans on. One of the neighbors calls this view "the secret garden".

the veggie patch is just getting going though the sorrel and garlic is quite tall. I've been eating the kale and can't wait for beet greens!

a small section of the shade garden that lives under an apple tree and some lilacs. I love the shapes and textures of the leaves here as they grow - there is lungwort, snow on the mountain, trillium, jack-in-the-pulpit, hosta, solomon's seal & other plants here. There was a path until the plants ran it over!

So that gives an idea of some of the gardens around the yard; my favorite room(s) to spend time in from spring thru the fall.

  1. I can tell you have spent many years building up your green paradise. Do you wander around in there every morning just to see what has changed since the day before? So glad you have this oasis to nourish body and soul.
