Spring continues to be on the cooler side around here and it has been more cloudy or rainy than sunny. We decided to go for a hike on Sunday anyway. We walked through a rain shower near the top of the mountain only to see a rainbow when we made it to the peak. Lucky us! Have you noticed that we are often rewarded in unexpected ways when we head out and enjoy the day rather than waiting for the ease of a sunny, warm day?
The sky and clouds were dramatic. We could see dark clouds to the south, north, east and west with pockets of rain to the north and east. We were pleased with our perfect timing and enjoyed the top for several peaceful minutes before heading down not sure if we were going to get soaked by the rain blowing across the lake.

In this post from February, Freezing rain creates sparkly mountaintop wonderland you can see the trees at the top of this mountain encased in ice and sparkling like diamonds on another day we chose to go out in less than ideal conditions. Nature sure rewards us with her beauty!

Thank you. It is beautiful but the mountains nearby are very accessible. This one takes an hour or so to hike up.

I so hope the cold is over now. They say we are to have sun and 80+ degrees today. I can feel the blurry photos coming on. I’m going to muster up the energy to veer outside a few minutes.

beautiful photos! This place looks somewhat similar to a place in Washington called Rattlesnake Ledge that has a 360 view of mountains and a lake.

That sounds like a fabulous place to visit too! We loved the one visit we took to Washington and look forward to going back again some time. Are there actually rattlesnakes in that area?

No rattlesnakes in western Washington, not sure how the place got that name

Maybe the shape? We have a rattlesnake mt. here too but rattlesnakes are very rare in NH and rarely seen.

Oh, I know what you mean about being rewarded when hiking in inclement weather. We don’t have much winter in California, but my best hike ever was the day I cross country skied down Glacier Point Road in Yosemite in a heavy snowstorm.
