It took the neighborhood honey bees less than 24 hours of the first blooms of the year opening to find their first feast of the season. What a delight to see life returning so quickly as the snow melts!

The bees must have been delirious to find their first pollen! We are in the process of building a little bee house and should have “tenants” in it by the end of this month.

Delirious is a good word. They were totally focused on the pollen and paid zero attention to me just inches away. Good luck with your bee keeping, Annette. How exciting!

Unfortunately, I can’t go near the bees since I am allergic to their stings. But the woman who is setting them up for us will service the bees and give us part of the honey. A sweet deal all around!
