Winter leans in,
snuffing out
the last bits of fall.
The cold creeps in,
icing fingers and toes,
woolens and down
layered on.
Darkness grows
turning more of the day
into night.
Christmas lights.
Who knew
they could save the soul
from falling into
darkness?
