In the old Alfama District in Lisbon, Portugal

I took this shot last week during our trip to Portugal to celebrate turning 50 and O’s graduation from University.  The Alfama District is the only part of Lisbon to survive the 1755 earthquake in tact.  I wonder if this message refers to how hard the lingering recession is hitting the Portugal people and their experience with austerity?
